Flames were seen above stalls at Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre on the morning of 26 March 2026. SCDF said it was alerted at about 10.50am to the fire at 115 Bukit Merah View.
The fire involved a kitchen exhaust duct. SCDF put it out using a compressed air foam backpack and a hose reel, and no injuries were reported.
The town council said damaged exhaust components would be repaired while the rest of the food centre continued operating. Cleaning and safety checks were also carried out in the affected area.
