A clip posted by SG Daily on 8 April 2026 shows a man lowering himself into an e-waste recycling bin and coming out with an electronic device in hand. The bin in the footage carries ALBA branding.
ALBA E-Waste runs more than 600 collection bins across Singapore for light bulbs, batteries and ICT equipment such as computers and power banks. The company has said the bins are not built for public access, and that entering or tampering with them may pose safety risks and could be an offence.
Waste deposited at public disposal facilities or collected by authorised contractors is treated as property of the National Environment Agency under the Environmental Public Health Act. ALBA has advised the public to erase personal data before recycling devices and to hand them in at supervised collection points instead.
Similar sightings have been reported at several locations since late 2025, including Woods Square Mall, Nee Soon Central Community Club, Causeway Point and AMK Hub.
