The remains of a 78-year-old man were found in an HDB flat at Ghim Moh Road on 25 July 2024 while police were following up on a missing person report.
Neighbours told Shin Min Daily News that they had not seen him since 2022. One neighbour said the man's family had visited and knocked on the door but received no response.
Officers were seen removing items from the flat, including a newspaper dated 11 May 2022. The date led to speculation that the man may have died that year, but authorities had not confirmed when he died.
Police classified the case as an unnatural death. Preliminary investigations found no indication of foul play, and investigations were continuing at the time.
