Min Soe Htat was sentenced to five years and one month's jail and 10 strokes of the cane on Aug 12, 2024. He pleaded guilty to two cannabis trafficking charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The 26-year-old Myanmar national and Singapore permanent resident was serving full-time National Service when Central Narcotics Bureau officers arrested him at a military camp on Oct 10, 2023.
Officers had arrested one of his customers earlier that day. The investigation led them to Min, who had sold 3.3g of cannabis and possessed another 21.87g for trafficking, according to Channel NewsAsia's court report.
Two other charges were considered during sentencing.
