A rat was filmed running through an East-West Line train before reaching the platform at Chinese Garden station in May 2026.
Passengers raised their feet as it moved through the carriage. SMRT told AsiaOne it was aware of the sighting and said rats may occasionally enter trains through station platforms, track areas, undercarriage gaps or gangways between train cars.
