A clip published on 15 May 2026 appears to show a Singapore-registered Mercedes being refuelled with subsidised RON95 petrol at a station in Malaysia. A bystander questions the driver and petrol station staff in the footage.
The Online Citizen reported that the driver said she was unaware of the rule and apologised during the exchange. Malaysia extended enforcement against petrol stations and drivers involved in supplying subsidised RON95 to foreign-registered vehicles from 1 April 2026.
