Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the gathering on 22 July. Reuters reported that they discussed areas of cooperation and preparations for a possible visit to Washington by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Wang also met Philippine Foreign Secretary Theresa Lazaro. The talks took place as ministers discussed regional security and cooperation.
