Huge plume of smoke seen billowing from building near Jurong East MRT station

A large plume of smoke seen from Jurong East on Sep 8 came from a warehouse fire at 10 Penjuru Road.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about noon. The fire involved used household items stored in a warehouse measuring about 20m by 10m and was confined to the warehouse.

About 50 people had evacuated before SCDF arrived. Firefighters used five water jets and a firefighting machine, and SCDF said the fire had been largely extinguished by 4.06pm.
