A fire broke out at a two-storey landed house along Simon Lane in Kovan at about 3pm on Sept 5.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said firefighters used three water jets to surround, contain and extinguish the blaze. A resident from the affected home had evacuated before crews arrived.
Police and SCDF evacuated about 30 people from nearby homes as a precaution. One neighbour was taken to Singapore General Hospital after being assessed for smoke inhalation. A firefighter sprained his right ankle but did not require hospital care.
The adjacent house was partially damaged. SCDF said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
