Traffic heading into Singapore through Woodlands Checkpoint slowed to long queues on 2 March 2026, with drivers on the Causeway reporting waits of more than three hours to clear immigration.
The congestion followed an announcement by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority on 28 February 2026 that it had stepped up security checks on arriving travellers, cargo and vehicles at land, air and sea checkpoints because of the heightened global security situation and developments in the Middle East.
ICA said travellers should expect delays and factor in extra time for clearance. Checkpoint.sg estimated a crossing time of between 105 and 160 minutes at about 9.30am that day, easing to about 40 to 60 minutes by late morning. Bus passengers also faced long queues at the checkpoint bays.
