The Government has accepted an independent review committee's recommendations on political salaries. The annual reference salary for an entry-grade MR4 minister will rise from S$1.1 million to S$1.8 million.
The S$1.8 million figure is a benchmark, not the immediate salary for every MR4 minister. Existing political officeholders will receive a one-off adjustment of up to 9% from Oct 15, 2026, depending on individual circumstances, including performance.
An MR4 minister receiving S$1.1 million may get an increase of almost S$100,000, taking the annual salary to about S$1.2 million. Later changes will depend on performance and responsibilities.
