A private dating event in Singapore asked every guest to arrive behind a mask. The people in the room were not random strangers, though. Teddy Lounge says each attendee had already been verified before receiving an invitation.
The dating app held its first Masquerade on Saturday, 22 August 2026. It reserved the venue for one afternoon and brought together a small group of members for games, guided conversations and an eventual unmasking.
Come as no one
That was the line Teddy Lounge used to introduce the event. Every guest entered behind a masquerade mask, which kept appearances and app identities out of the first round of conversation.
The itinerary mixed free conversation with organised activities. In the Invitation Hunt, 14 envelopes were hidden around the room. Each held a numbered card, and guests kept the cards they found. Everyone regrouped in the main hall at 2.15pm, where the numbers were added up and the highest total won a hidden prize.
Printed prompts and activity sheets gave guests something to talk about before deciding whether to reveal more. The setup left room for spontaneous conversations while avoiding the usual first impression built from profile photos.
Teddy Lounge described the afternoon as invitation only and said every guest was verified. Members were told to check their inboxes, while non members had to begin by applying through the app.
How often do these private events take place?
Teddy Lounge called the 22 August gathering its first Masquerade. The company has not announced a fixed schedule for future masquerades, so there is no confirmed weekly or monthly cadence. Invitations to any follow up event are expected to go directly to eligible members.
The app itself runs on a more regular rhythm. Its FAQ says members receive three verified profiles each day. Teddy Tokens can unlock two additional profiles. Members can also post their own meet ups on the Party page, where interested users remain anonymous until the host chooses to open a profile.
Teddy Lounge also has an anonymous discussion area called the Lounge. Members can talk about work, plans, investments or other topics without showing their identities. A user can then spend Teddy Tokens to open the profile of someone whose views caught their attention.
What the different profile medals mean
Teddy Lounge does not sort members into conventional profile types. Instead, managers manually verify qualifying achievements and display them as medals on each profile. An applicant needs at least one medal to enter the app.
The eight medal categories shown on the Teddy Lounge website are High Income, Prime Property, Luxury Cars, Legacy, Academic Excellence, Beauty, Social Status and Profession. The badges are intended to show which part of a member’s application was verified, rather than leaving users to rely only on self written claims.
According to Teddy Lounge’s FAQ, human managers review supporting documents and approve or reject each application. Once admitted, members can use daily matching, the Party page and the anonymous Lounge.
How to join Teddy Lounge
Teddy Lounge is an invite only dating app built around manual verification, limited daily profiles and member only social features. Physical invitation cards include a manager referral code, but people who have not received one can still apply online if they qualify for at least one medal.
Applications are available on the Teddy Lounge website. Approved members can then check the app and their inbox for match recommendations, member hosted meet ups and future private event invitations.
