A woman was filmed drinking bubble tea on the platform at Bugis MRT station in footage published on 19 June 2026.
The clip prompted questions over whether the no-food-and-drink rule applies only inside trains. SMRT later clarified that eating and drinking are prohibited throughout paid areas of MRT stations, including platforms.
The rule is intended to keep stations clean and reduce safety risks. The footage does not show whether staff approached the woman or whether any action was taken.
